This thesis focuses on a tragically current topic and an integral part of everyday life in our society, the femicide. The aim is to analyze this phenomenon starting from its definition and characteristics up to its recognition as a crime against human rights and women, focusing on the situation of Mexico and the relationship between love and violence. In this way, the attempt is to underline the urgency of the problem and give a voice to the victims who have been forcibly deprived of this right. The thesis is structured in four chapters that approach and explore topics such as: the female world and violence, including their artistic and literary representation over time, as well as the ways in which these two realities meet and collide. The choice of Mexico as the main focus is due to its recognition as the State with the highest rate of femicides and disappearances, also demonstrated by scientific, social and cultural studies. Fundamental for the investigation of this last part was the collaboration and direct testimony of Maja Zawierzeniec, one of the two authors mentioned in this work, through some interviews, comments and analyses both on the books written and on her experience of study and life in Mexico. The first chapter includes a historical excursus from the Mexican Revolution to the present day to understand the evolution of the figure of women over time, analyzing the recent creation of feminist and victim support groups, as well as the way in which society and media define the female figure and the theme of violence. The works of Rosario Castellanos, Elena Garro and Laura Esquivel as well as the concept of decolonial feminism introduced by the philosopher María Lugones are analyzed. The second chapter focuses on the term violence and its peculiarities, on the difference between men and women and on the patriarchal mentality, still partially strong, up to the recognition and definition of the term femicide by the anthropologist Marcela Lagarde. The third and fourth chapters address the situation in Mexico in relation to crime and femicide, State gaps, indifference and criticism of society towards the victims or minimization of the problem. In the book Las Voces Sordas these issues are described starting from the cultural, artistic and literary sphere while El invencible verano de Liliana analyzes them through the personal experience of a victim and one of her closest relatives, her sister and author of the book.
Esta tesis se centra en un tema trágicamente actual y que forma parte integral de la vida cotidiana de nuestra sociedad: el feminicidio. El objetivo es analizar este fenómeno desde su definición y características hasta su reconocimiento como un delito contra los derechos humanos y las mujeres, centrándose en la situación en México y la relación entre el amor y la violencia. En este sentido se intenta subrayar la urgencia del problema y dar voz a las víctimas que han sido privadas forzosamente de este derecho. La tesis se estructura en cuatro capítulos que abordan y exploran temas como: el mundo femenino y la violencia, incluyendo su representación artística y literaria a lo largo del tiempo, así como las formas en que estas dos realidades se encuentran y colisionan. La elección de México como enfoque principal se debe a su reconocimiento como el estado con el índice más alto de feminicidios y desapariciones, también demostrado por estudios científicos, sociales y culturales. Fundamental para la reflexión en esta última parte fue la colaboración y el testimonio directo de Maja Zawierzeniec, una de las dos autoras citadas en este trabajo, a través de entrevistas, comentarios y análisis tanto de los libros escritos como de su experiencia de estudio y vida en México. El primer capítulo incluye un recorrido histórico desde la Revolución Mexicana hasta la actualidad para comprender la evolución de la figura de la mujer a lo largo del tiempo, analizando la reciente creación de grupos feministas y de apoyo a las víctimas, así como la forma en que la sociedad y los medios de comunicación definen la figura femenina y el tema de la violencia. Se analizan las obras de Rosario Castellanos, Elena Garro y Laura Esquivel, y se introduce el concepto de feminismo decolonial por la filósofa María Lugones. El segundo capítulo se centra en el término violencia y sus peculiaridades, en la diferencia entre hombres y mujeres y en la mentalidad patriarcal, aún parcialmente vigente, hasta el reconocimiento y la definición del término feminicidio por la antropóloga Marcela Lagarde. Los capítulos tercero y cuarto abordan la situación en México en relación con la delincuencia y el feminicidio, las faltas del Estado, la indiferencia y la crítica de la sociedad hacia las víctimas o la minimización del problema. En el libro Las Voces Sordas, estos temas se abordan desde el ámbito cultural, artístico y literario, mientras que El invencible verano de Liliana los analiza a través de la experiencia personal de una víctima y de uno de sus familiares más cercanos, su hermana y autora de la obra.
