I RELIGIOSI CADUTI NELLA GUERRA DI LIBERAZIONE E FINO AL 1946 TRA MODENA E REGGIO EMILIA. UN REPERTORIO STORICO.

The thesis examines cases of members of the clergy who were victims of violence and persecution in the provinces of Modena and Reggio Emilia, analysing them within the context of the civil war and, more broadly, the Second World War, with the German occupation of Italy and the partisan struggle between 1943 and 1946. These martyrdoms occurred as a result of hatred, suspicion, opposing faiths and ideologies, or simply criminal motives, perpetrated both by the Nazi-Fascists and by Communist partisans. These events deserve attention because they have left an indelible mark on collective memory. In this geographical area, characterized by a deep and widespread intertwining of the Church, the population, and the dynamics of war and resistance, numerous atrocities were committed against clerical figures such as priests, chaplains, and young seminarians, who were engaged in helping others without any political distinction.

La tesi analizza i casi di religiosi, vittime di violenza e persecuzione nelle province di Modena e Reggio Emilia, analizzando il contesto della guerra civile nel più ampio ambito del secondo conflitto mondiale con l’occupazione tedesca dell’Italia e la lotta partigiana tra il 1943-1946. Martirii avvenuti per odio, sospetti, opposta fede e ideologia, o semplicemente per delinquenza sia da parte dei nazifascisti, che dai partigiani comunisti. Questi eventi meritano attenzione perché lasciano un segno indelebile nella memoria comunitaria. In questa area geografica, caratterizzata da un intreccio profondo e capillare tra Chiesa, popolazione e dinamiche belliche e resistenziali, si verificarono numerose atrocità verso esponenti clericali come preti, cappellani e giovani seminaristi; impegnati nell’aiuto del prossimo senza alcuna distinzione politica.
