This thesis addresses the redesign of an upright for the Formula Renault 3.5 through generative design, with the aim of exploiting additive manufacturing and evaluating its potential compared to traditional approaches. The work analyzes the state of the art of the component, focusing on geometry, materials, and manufacturing technologies. A systematic approach is then adopted, developing a list of requirements based on the design experience of existing uprights. This is followed by the definition of design constraints and operating conditions, derived from the loads obtained from race manoeuvres. Based on the collected data, the CAD software "Creo Parametric 12" is used with the "Generative Shape Design" extension to create an optimized geometry, which is then validated through an FEM analysis in "Creo Simulate." The comparison is based on the evaluation of structural, performance, and, finally, cost parameters. The objective is to identify the potential of generative design in the motorsport context, demonstrating the complex geometries that can be achieved, along with the advantages and disadvantages relative to traditional solutions. The work seeks to contribute to technological innovation in the high-performance motorsport sector.

Abstract
The work seeks to contribute to technological innovation in the high-performance motorsport sector.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
