The thesis work carried out analyzed a set of 40 specimens using active IR thermographic analysis with direct current (DC) Joule effect excitation. The specimens were created with intentionally introduced defects, whose shape, size, and depth are known parameters selected across a range of values that challenge the detectability limits of the technique under analysis. The defects also feature three different orientations relative to the current flow within the specimen. In addition to deepening the understanding of the influence of size, shape, depth, and spatial orientation, the 40 specimens enabled the development and optimization of a robust research methodology for this technology.

Abstract
The thesis work carried out analyzed a set of 40 specimens using active IR thermographic analysis with direct current (DC) Joule effect excitation. The specimens were created with intentionally introduced defects, whose shape, size, and depth are known parameters selected across a range of values that challenge the detectability limits of the technique under analysis. The defects also feature three different orientations relative to the current flow within the specimen. In addition to deepening the understanding of the influence of size, shape, depth, and spatial orientation, the 40 specimens enabled the development and optimization of a robust research methodology for this technology.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
